Terms of Service

1. Purpose

peepin (“the Service”) is a monitoring tool that informs the user of public changes to the followings and followers of public Instagram profiles. The Service only reads data that is already publicly accessible, and never logs in to the observed accounts nor notifies them.

2. Publisher & host

Host: OVH SAS, 2 rue Kellermann, 59100 Roubaix, France.

3. Access and minimum age

The Service is reserved for people aged at least 15. The paid subscription is reserved for adults (18 and over). The user warrants the accuracy of the information provided at sign-up.

4. Permitted use

The Service must be used in a strictly personal, lawful and non-malicious manner. The following are notably prohibited:

• harassment, abusive surveillance or intimidation of a person (art. 222-33-2-2 of the French Criminal Code);
• any use intended to harm, threaten, stalk or control a person;
• reselling or redistributing data obtained through the Service;
• any attempt to bypass technical limits (private accounts, quotas, etc.).

Any breach results in immediate suspension of the account, without refund.

5. Subscription & payment

The Service offers a limited free tier and paid subscriptions (weekly or yearly) handled through Stripe. The subscription renews automatically until cancelled. Cancellation is possible at any time; premium access remains active until the end of the period already paid for. No pro-rata refund is issued, except where required by mandatory law.

6. Availability

The Service depends on the availability of public data from third-party networks. The publisher guarantees neither the completeness, nor the accuracy, nor the real-time freshness of the information, and cannot be held liable for any interruption of these sources.

7. No affiliation

peepin is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Meta (Instagram). The trademarks cited belong to their respective owners.

8. Liability

The user is solely responsible for how they use the Service and the information obtained. The publisher disclaims all liability in the event of use contrary to these terms or to the law.

2. Data processed

a) About our users

• email, password (hashed), year of birth;
• Stripe customer ID and subscription status (no banking data passes through or is stored on our side);
• push subscriptions (the browser’s technical address).

b) About observed profiles (public accounts)

We store only already-public data and strictly the minimum needed: handle, display name, photo, follower/following counts, and the public list of followings/followers in order to detect changes to it.

3. Legal basis

Processing of observed accounts is based on the user’s legitimate interest in following public information, balanced against the rights of the data subjects. Processing related to the user account is based on performance of the contract.

4. Retention period

Activity history is kept for a maximum of 90 days, then automatically deleted. A profile that is no longer followed by any user is erased within 7 days.

5. Data subject rights

Any person (user or observed profile) has a right of access, rectification, erasure and objection. Anyone may request to no longer be followed and have their data erased via our dedicated page, or by writing to contact@peepin.app. Complaints may be filed with the CNIL.

6. Sharing

No data is sold. The only processors are the host (OVH), the payment provider (Stripe) and the public data provider. No data is shared with Instagram.

7. Security

Hashed passwords, encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted access to data. Despite our measures, no system is infallible.
